Custom Kitchen Cabinets vs Flat-Pack: What's the Real Difference?

Flat-pack cabinetry is manufactured in standard sizes and assembled on site, often requiring filler panels or gap-covers where the space doesn’t precisely match the available sizing. Custom kitchen cabinets, by contrast, are measured and built specifically for your kitchen’s actual dimensions.

In Sydney homes — particularly older properties where walls are rarely perfectly square — this difference shows up in the finished result. Custom cabinetry fits tightly against walls and into corners without gaps, makes fuller use of available storage depth, and can be finished in a wider range of materials than most flat-pack ranges offer.
